The absolute best source for information to help you in constructing a new habitat is a friend that has experience with carpentry and wiring. A good friend may even help you or even build it for you. Another source would be to pay a professional carpenter or electrician to do the work. Even if you build the habitat yourself, you may even want to get your work inspected by a qualified carpenter and/or electrician. This may cost you a little bit of money, but you may learn quite a bit from the feedback you recieve from a professional.

Another very good source for information is a quality book on carpentry and wiring. There are literally hundreds of different books available. Reader's Digest's New Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual is an excellent choice and can be an invaluable book to help you in this project, as well as many other projects that you may want to tackle once you realize you've now become a regular do-it-yourselfer. It's list price is $35 (U.S.) and can be found online for about $28.
